Anti-infectious, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, and
bug repellant. Treatment for acne and cystitis. for centuries Australian Aboriginals
used the leaves as a disinfectant to cover wounds. Shown by laboratory tests to be a
powerful anti-microbial agent, eucalyptus has often been used for the respiratory
system as well as a powerful insect repellant. Eucalyptus trees have been planted
throughout parts of North Africa to successfully block the spread of malaria.
According to Jean Valnet, MD, a solution of 2% eucalyptus oil will kill 70% of
airborne staph bacteria. Some doctors still use solutions of eucalyptus oil in surgical
dressings. Has also been used to effectively treat herpes simplex and vaginitis.
Use in the sauna after work-out or massage into painful joints to relieve muscle aches.
Eucalyptus essential oil complements lavender, lemon verbena, lemon and rose. It
blends well with those fragrances.
